I guess I should take the time to introduce myself and my tribe, just in case someone outside of my circle finds their way to this site (#bloggoals). This will probably be the most awkward post of them all since talking about yourself directly can be uncomfortable but we better get it out of the way. First up- I am Kayla. I was born and raised in the Texas Hill Country (shout out to my MF’ers) and still think of that area as my home base. I don’t ever see myself living there again but it’s where my family lives and where I met all of my best friends. When I graduated high school, I took my Texas butt up to K-State to ride horses on their collegiate team. That’s right, my parents spent tens of thousands of dollars from the time I was a wee-lad until adulthood funding my ridiculously crazy horse habit so that I could get a few thousand bucks in scholarship money each semester. The math doesn’t equal out but it sure was a fun adventure. Early on at my time at KSU, my roommate and friend introduced me to this really tall, scrawny blonde kid with braces they grew up with known as Dong. Yes, everyone called this poor kid Dong- like a wiener. Turns out it was a shorted version of Lerek Dong (initials switched). Regardless, I grew to be quite fond of this Dong kid, and well ten years later; here we are, married with child. And, yes, I called him Dong well into our relationship until finally I said, “Do you think maybe I should call you something besides Dong?” One thing I warn young ladies about now is that if you plan to go to college out of state, be prepared to fall in love with someone out of state. Derek is from Kansas so I will forever be tied to the sunflower state. I am sure there will be plenty of marriage talk in this blog down the line so I will leave it at that for now. Oh yeah, that child I talked about earlier, well his name is Hayes and he is pretttyyyy much the cutest baby in the world. Well no shit I am biased but for real- cute kid. He is going through a lot of crazy phases right now with learning to walk and getting molars (holy balls- teething sucks), so the majority of the entertainment value on this blog will likely come from poop stories and mispronounced toddler words. Derek and I hope to round out the tribe with another bambino someday but that day is not now. I haven’t quite forgotten how shitty pregnancy is- almost, but not yet. I am head over heels obsessed with my sweet boys, and all kidding aside, I’m the luckiest wife/mom around.
